So why are we called Loblolly? The Loblolly is a pine tree that can handle a variety of soils and climates. Its wood is famous in shipbuilding for its durability, flexability and versatilty. It surfaces in old English sailing vessel journals as a term for a "jack of all trades" on a ship; one who can take on any role, sailor, cook, rigger, even doctor if needed, essentially one who is fresh, eager and willing to take on the task.
